After shedding three syllables and going upper-case with a vengeance by rebranding the Premiership as the “PREM”, the people behind England’s shop-window club offering have somehow reached the conclusion that we are embarking on a “groundbreaking and transformative new era”.
They might be proved right in the fullness of time: there may indeed be a decisive move towards a franchise model in the top flight, the successful launch of a global club championship and all manner of other mod cons.
